Encourage their head to turn
Rolling the Rolling Bell on the floor in front of your child while they’re on their stomach motivates them to track it with their eyes. This leads them to practice a crucial motor skill—turning their head from left to right.
Strengthen your baby’s legs
Strengthening your baby’s leg muscles gives them a head start to achieve gross motor skills. Learning to use and control our muscles happens sequentially from our heads down.
Your baby’s large buttocks and leg muscles will be the last to lose their jerky, uncontrolled movements.
Take advantage of your baby’s need to push against something with their legs. Place your forearm against their legs to see if your baby will push away from your arm. Tie helium-filled balloons to your baby’s legs. Kicking is a great exercise. Lay your baby on their back on a smooth surface on a blanket. Allow them to push against your hands with their feet.
