At-home activities for a 2month+ baby:
Less is more, don't think you need to buy a bunch of things to entertain your baby. You can do plenty of new activities with the play toys you already have.
- Tackle play with the sensory pocket. Place the sensory pocket over your baby's hands and gently help stroke your baby's hands with their other body parts, including their belly and face. This will help your child learn about different textures and how they feel against their skin and begin associating it with each body part.
- Tummy time on your lap. Place your baby on your lap, letting their tummy lay on your lap, and place the standing card holder next to them on the floor. Elevated on your lap, your child will have the opportunity to practice the newborn visual skill of focusing on an object. This is a fun new way to stimulate their eyesight and keep them engaged as they stretch and strengthen their body.
- Give your baby a calming massage. This is a great bonding activity for a new dad and baby. Lay your baby on their back and use baby-safe lotion to gently rub their tummy, arms, hands, legs, and feet.
- Help them focus on an object. Take the bilateral rattle and slowly move it from left to right, helping your baby not only focus on the rattle but also learn how to track what they're seeing.
- Read a story to your baby. Grab a black and white contrast cards and tell them a story. Your scent and voice will help calm your little one.
