Toy rotation is definitely a staple of any Montessori-aligned play area. The reason behind it is driven by research that shows children with fewer items to choose from (4 items) are encouraged to engage in a play toy deeper and longer. In addition, toy rotation allows your child to reuse play toys over and over again in new ways each time they grow and develop.
How to start?
Start by observing your child, their interests and growth. Based on this, switch out the play toys they are no longer engaged with every two weeks and add different ones. Reuse play toys they use in the past and see how they now use them.
