Around 6 months or so your baby will practice making loud screechy noises, this is totally normal. Child development experts refer to this as an important cognitive stage of development. Your child is learning that they have a voice and that adults will respond to it.
Here are some helpful tips to respond to your baby's new found voice.
-
Respond to your baby in a calm and low voice, which will help them tone down their screeches.
-
Respond to their screeches with adult language, this will encourage them to keep developing their language and understand that we talk and not screech.
-
Use baby sign language when responding, ask them if they need help and use the sign. Empower your baby to communicate the way they know how to.
Soon all those screeching sounds will turn into words, just a few months and you will get through this stage!
